5 Fun Easter Activities for Kids
Easter is an opportunity to reflect, restore and for families to spend quality time together. If you’re a parent or have relatives with little ones, plan a few fun activities to make the holiday that much more special. We’ve come up with five egg-cellent Easter activity ideas for inspiration.
1. Decorate Easter eggs
Decorating Easter eggs is one of the great, traditional Easter activities for kids. Break out the food dye, paint pens, sequins, a carton of eggs and get creative! And don’t worry if they don’t turn out perfectly, as you can always have an egg and spoon race with them afterwards.

2. Plan an Easter egg hunt
Before the little ones arrive, spend some time hiding Easter eggs all over the garden or inside the house. Then, give each child a basket to collect their goodies. The joyful chaos of an Easter egg hunt is one of the most exciting Easter activities for toddlers and the whole family alike. Just don’t hide the eggs too well or they might be found by some lucky insects later in the day.
Some of our favourite chocolate providers are Koko Black and Woolworths.

3. Cook all the Easter favourites
From roast lamb to seafood platters, everyone has their own traditions when it comes to Easter food and getting together over a meal is what this holiday is all about. Plus, nothing says Easter like the smell of freshly baked hot cross buns. However, hosting the whole family can be stressful and expensive when many relatives are invited. As a generous gift, why not give this year’s host a Coles gift card to contribute to the cost of Easter lunch.

4. Read Easter themed books
Understanding the religious meaning behind Easter is important for some families. For others, a sweet tale about the Easter bunny will suffice. Luckily, there are plenty of child-friendly picture books that tell either story. If you’re a grandparent or aunt or uncle who’s not sure what to buy, you can give their parents a gift card to make the choice for their children. Whatever their preferences, they can find a great Easter themed bed-time story at Dymocks.

5. Play a game of Easter bingo
In case there are Easter showers, you might want a rainy-day activity up your sleeve as well. Playing a round of Easter bingo is something that everyone can partake in, even if the little ones can’t read yet. You could make your own using printed pictures or use an online template. Some images to include could be a chick, an egg, a rabbit, a basket, a cross, or whatever represents Easter to your family. To add an element of friendly competition, you could give the winner a small prize like a Prezzee gift card to be spent at Smiggle or The Lego Store.

At the end of the day, it’s the memories you will make with your loved ones that are the sweetest of all….especially if they involve chocolate.
Happy Easter!
